Working
with Mary Wadkins on the production of "The Belle of Amherst"
was a most rewarding experience on several levels. First, the
quality of her performance was outstanding: students, faculty and
administrators all raved about Mary's portrayal and how she brought
Emily Dickinson to life for them. She created a persona that was
warm and alluring, yet full of Dickinson's idiosyncrasies. Also,
putting on the production was a joy thanks to Mary's artistic insight
and her accommodating personality that cared not only for the excellence
of the final product but for the concerns for those aiding her. I
have worked with many performers through my efforts at bringing cultural
activities to our campus, and Mary was far and away the easiest to work
with; her caring and understanding were unlimited. I most
enthusiastically recommend Mary Wadkins and her production of "The
Belle of Amherst" to all who wish to bring literature alive, for
she does so with wit, charm and insight. |
