William Luce's Tony-Award Winning play,  The Belle of Amherst

magically brings Emily Dickinson to life before our very eyes.

"With the intelligence of her interpretation of the role, and with the wit, range and versatility of her acting, Mary Wadkins turned Luce's ambitious play into a tour de force that did not explain Dickinson of her work, but brought her to life.  It was an impressive and memorable performance."

A word is dead

When it is said

Some say.

I say it just

Begins to live

That day.

Two Versions to Choose From

The Full Production

has two acts and runs approximately two hours. It fully explores Emily's passion in her relationships with her childhood friends, her father, her "master" and her desperate need to write. Interwoven with Emily's greatest poems, this production is an intrepid exploration of the remarkable woman behind the words.

The One Hour Production

is an encapsulation of the full production that brings the essence of Emily, her poetry and her relationships to life simply and enjoyably.  This concise version can be adapted to be as short as 45 minutes, or as long as needed.

Recommended for younger audiences.
